High Speed Chase Ends with DUI Arrest

A high speed chase through the mountains ends with an arrest and a DUI charge. Gary Plemmons of Ider faces a DUI and multiple other charges after the chase. According to Fort Payne Police, officers noticed a pickup truck revving its engine and spinning its tires at an intersection before heading north on Grand Avenue. Officers attempted to catch up to the truck, and began a chase that went onto I-59, crossed briefly into Georgia, and across Sulphur Springs Gap Road. There, the truck crashed into a tree, but then continued up the mountain An Ider Police officer set up spikes to stop the truck, but it continued on flat tires. The driver and the truck finally came to a stop on county road 141. Police then took Plemmons into custody. Officers took Plemmons to a hospital, where he refused treatment.
