A group of kids in Heflin are building forts and building character. The Fort Building Camp hosted by the Heflin Parks and recreation Department has kids using pallets and natural materials to build forts. After the forts are completed, they then have a water balloon fight to see whose fort is best. Parks and Recreation Director Tammy Perry says the camp is a great way to get kids outdoors. The kids also enjoy a giant homemade water slide. The camp lasts three days, with the first two days spent building the forts and the third day on the water balloon battle. Perry says the camp has grown so much since last year, that they had to have three teams instead of two.
