DeKalb County authorities make multiple drug and weapons arrests, and find a wanted man in the trunk of a car. Eric Freeman, of Sylvania, faces multiple drug charges and a weapons charge. Sylvania Police and the DeKalb County Drug Task Force say they went to a home on Seventh Street North in Sylvania to serve an arrest warrant on Freeman. At the home, authorities noticed a sawed off shotgun laying in plain sight. After obtaining a search warrant, they found a large amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and the modified shotgun. Freeman is currently held in the DeKalb County Jail.
On the same day DeKalb County Deputies made a traffic stop on County Road 47 and Poole Circle in Fyffe. Deputies say that when they approached the vehicle, driven by Christopher White, they could see a bucket in the floorboard of the passenger side with a green leafy substance inside. When asked, White admitted it was marijuana. Upon further search of the vehicle deputies found a marijuana pipe. White is also held in the DeKalb County Jail.
A man and his mother are behind bars and face several charges. Law Enforcement says they received a tip that John Hunter, a wanted felon, was driving a red Buick. Deputies spotted a vehicle fitting the description and made a traffic stop. Brenda Johnson, Hunter’s mother was driving the Buick and told deputies she had not seen her son. K-9 Marianna and the K-9 Deputy were called and conducted an open air sniff. The dog indicated that there were drugs inside the vehicle. A search was conducted and deputies found Hunter in the trunk of the vehicle. Hunter was arrested on 14 warrants and Johnson is charged with hindering prosecution.
