Rare Form of Mad Cow Disease Found in Alabama

Agriculture officials say a rare form of mad cow disease has been found in Alabama. In a statement from the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, Commissioner John McMillan says an eleven year-old beef cow tested positive for the disease. While most mad cow cases come from beef by-products being fed to cows, this case arose spontaneously. The animal was taken away from other livestock and poses no risk to the food supply.
