Jacksonville City Schools Cancel School Improvement Contract

The Jacksonville City Schools Board of Education has canceled its contract for improvements to Jacksonville High School. In a meeting on Tuesday, the board voted to rescind the contract after the contactor discovered they underestimated the cost of the project. The improvements included replacing the school’s roof, floors, and repainting the interior. The board had hired Hurst Construction to complete the more than $700,000 contract. The school system will rebid the upgrades in the spring.
