Alabama's Attorney General Releases Statement on Firearm Ban at Softball Complex

Saturday, August 5, 2017

The Attorney General of Alabama releases a statement regarding complaints that the City of Southside prohibited firearms from its Softball Complex. After the AG's office contacted Southside, the town said it does not enforce the ban. It said it purposefully obscured signage regarding the ban. Alabama law prohibits public facilities from banning firearms, unless the area is not open to the public. The town will replace the sign with one that does not mention a firearm ban. The Attorney General determined that no further action is needed.
