Emergency Services Run Training Drill

Thursday, August 10, 2017

Multiple emergency agencies prepare for what they hope will never happen. Centre Police held a mass casualty training drill at the Cherokee County Nursing Home today. The drill started with a simulated car crash, and then, a mass shooting. Police Chief Kirk Blankenship says it’s been a long time since they had a drill like this, and he looks to have more in the future. Even though the city has never had to handle such an emergency, Blankenship says it’s important to stay prepared. The Centre Fire Department, Cherokee County EMS, the County Rescue Squad, and Police departments from Cedar Bluff, Leesburg, and Rainsville all participated in the drill.
