Calhoun County Commission Agrees on Inmate Healthcare Plan

Friday, August 11, 2017

The Calhoun County Commission finds ways to reduce the cost of healthcare for inmates in the County Detention Center. In its regular meeting, commissioners today approved an agreement with Southern Immediate Care in Anniston. The urgent care clinic will see inmates for 200 dollars per visit. Officials say the county currently takes inmates to emergency rooms for issues that could be dealt with at less expensive clinics. They also agreed to change healthcare providers for inmates from Quality Correctional Health Care to Chattanooga based Southern Health Partners. The changes should bring down the rising cost of care for the inmates.
