Dixie Youth Baseball World Series Draws Crowds Despite Weather

Friday, August 11, 2017

As Gerhard had been talking about this week, teams from all over the South are in Oxford to compete in the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series. 33 teams from 11 states are playing at Choccolocco Park in three age groups. Park Director Jack Deal says the tournament is great for the local economy. The tournament began on Saturday, and was originally scheduled to end today, but the rain has pushed some games into Friday. Teams came from as far away as Texas and South Carolina. One family says they’ve enjoyed the city’s hospitality, even when they had to visit the ER. Gerhard Mathangani will have more on the tournament, coming up later on TV 24 Primetime Sports.
