Congressman Mike Rogers’ town hall meeting in Oxford drew protesters today. Members of the local Democratic Party joined a group called “Indivisible Pell City” to protest at the Congressman’s event. The group says they turned out to voice their concerns with the Republican party’s attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The protesters also vented their frustration with the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Despite the protesters, Rogers’ continued with his town hall meeting at the Oxford Civic Center. He fielded questions from concerned citizens on issues such as healthcare reform and financial issues. Even though many people were not there to support Rogers, he says they’re the main reason he holds these meetings. The congressman also held a Town Hall earlier today in Lee County. He has held these meetings every August since 2010, when he says people were upset with the Affordable Care Act. Tickets to the event were free, but were all taken within a week of being released.
