Anniston Salvation Army Ready for Hurricane Harvey

The Anniston Salvation Army says it’s on standby to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. The charity's Canteen unit is ready to go if needed to assist with disaster service. In Texas, the Salvation Army has deployed more than 40 mobile kitchens to help feed people affected by the storm. The charity first sends local units to help, but when they get exhausted, units from other areas step-in. Anniston Corps. Officer Major Eric Roberts says Salvation Army divisions in this area are often called on for such disasters. Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas Friday night as a Category four storm with winds of more than one hundred and 30 miles per hour. Flooding is the major concern, with some areas recording more than 30 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
