Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill Honors a local high school student and race car driver. Secretary Merrill recognized Oxford High School junior Cruz Skinner for his involvement with the Click It or Ticket campaign. The nationwide campaign is an effort to encourage drivers and passengers to always wear a seatbelt when driving or riding in a car. Merrill says Skinner sets himself apart from others with his dedication to safety. Skinner races late model dirt track cars, and says that a nasty crash inspired him to encourage others to always use safety equipment like seat belts. Skinner says he was honored to have the Secretary of State come to Oxford to recognize his efforts.
