Alabama Attorney General Joins Gun Ban Coalition

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall joins a 21 state coalition that is asking the US Supreme Court to rule against a Maryland ban on certain firearms. A US Circuit Court ruled to uphold the ban on military-style rifles and shotguns like the AR-15, which was used in the Sandy Hook School shooting in Newton, Connecticut. That and other mass shootings led to Maryland passing the ban into law. Marshall, and the coalition, says the law may set the stage for a federal ban on such weapons. The coalition argues that the ruling inappropriately limits freedoms guaranteed by the Second Amendment. The Supreme Court has not yet decided to hear the case.
