Family Displaced by Irma Tells Their Story
Many families from Florida evacuated their communities ahead of Hurricane Irma, and some of them ended up in East Alabama. The Mizell family, like many other families, left their home and possessions behind to escape the danger of the hurricane. Cassandra Mizell and her six children, who range in age from 5 months to 13 years old, left their home in Jacksonville, Florida and headed for safety in Alabama. Mizell says that, after several setbacks, they finally made it to Lincoln and are thankful for the people that have helped. Mizell says the crews are still cleaning the area where they live and the family is waiting for the power to come back on at their house before heading home.
