Friday, September 15, 2017

A local school system discusses ways to grow and connect with students this school year.  Oxford City School teachers, parents, and administrators spent the day reviewing and discussing the Continuous Improvement Plan. This gives members of the school system the opportunity to see what works and what needs improvement. Oxford High School parent Pam Stratton says communication is the key to creating a better school system. The Continuous Improvement Plan not only focuses on what goes on in school, but also takes into account what goes on while students are not there. Oxford Middle School Assistant Principal Joicelyn Armberster says the plan is looked at all throughout the year. Auto Custom Parts President and CEO Ken Howell says these types of meetings prepare the students for their lives after graduation. Oxford City Schools Curriculum Coordinator Khristie Goodwin says it’s a team effort. The meeting looked at how to find high impact strategies and the research that proves they work when implemented. Members also discussed professional development needs to help better achieve their goals.
