Thursday, September 28, 2017

The flu, bronchitis, strep throat & respiratory illnesses have struck the Cleburne County football team. The case is so widespread that head coach Michael Shortt was forced to cancel Wednesday's practice. The status of both Thursday's practice and Friday's game against No. 8 Alexandria are uncertain at this time. The situation started around two weeks ago and the numbers continue to grow. On Wednesday nearly 30 players were at home trying to recover. The case is not regulated to just the football team; but several other students at the high school are under the weather as well.

Coach Shortt will work alongside Alexandria head coach Frank Tucker to do what is best for the players in regards to Friday's non-region matchup. TV24 will continue to follow the story. (Hear from head coach Michael Shortt in the featured video.)
