Stay of Execution of Jeffery Borden Overturned

Thursday, October 5, 2017

The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned a stay of execution for an Alabama death row inmate. Jeffery Borden is scheduled to receive a lethal injection Thursday. The 11th Circuit last week stayed the execution after ruling a judge prematurely dismissed his and other inmates’ challenges to the humaneness of Alabama’s lethal injection procedure. Borden was convicted in 1993 of killing his estranged wife, Cheryl Borden, and her father, Roland Harris, during a Christmas Eve get-together.
