Construction of Firefighter Memorial to Begin in Anniston

Thursday, October 12, 2017

Construction has begun on a place to remember men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Centennial Memorial Park will be home to Alabama’s second state-designated firefighter memorial.

The memorial will display the names of more than 400 Alabama firefighters killed in the line of duty. Centennial Memorial Committee Head Ken Rollins says every firefighter will be honored.

Rollins says surplus money raised for the police memorial will pay for the firefighter tribute. Rollins also says he has waited years for this memorial and he is excited to finally see it going up.

Once the memorial is completed the City of Anniston will hold a dedication to celebrate the lives of those fallen firefighters.
