The 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals upholds a stay of execution for Torrey McNabb. McNabb is one of several inmates challenging Alabama’s method of performing lethal injections.
The court ruled there is no reason to overturn the stay issued by a federal judge. The judge granted the reprieve after the 11th Circuit ordered more proceedings in that lawsuit.
McNabb was convicted of killing Montgomery police officer, Anderson Gordon in 1997. Prosecutors say McNabb shot Gordon multiple times after he arrived at a traffic accident that McNabb caused while running from a bail bondsmen.
