State Senator Gerald Dial of Lineville plans to run for commissioner of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.The Republican announced his bid for the office today, and said he would emphasize job creation.
Dial also said that he would develop a statewide irrigation program, and create an agricultural cabinet to make changes based on feedback from farmers. Dial had previously announced he would not run for reelection to the Senate.
He is in his eighth term in the Senate and also served two terms in the House. Others who are seeking the Republican nomination for agriculture commissioner are Lowndesboro Mayor Rick Jones and Nicole Jones of Huntsville.
