There are plenty of games around the state with region championship implications in week nine. One of those games is in Class 4A as a pair of red hot teams meet in Region 5.
TV24 Sports caught up with the Saks Wildcats as they get set to face Hokes Bluff on the road Friday night. The Wildcats are 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the region and Hokes Bluff enters with a 5-1 region record. The formula is simple for Saks - win and they are region champions; a loss puts their fate up to tiebreakers. Head coach Jonathan Miller says he likes how his team is maturing heading into the contest. (Hear from Coach Miller in the featured video.)
Confidence won’t be an issue for Hokes Bluff. The core of the skill players that made a deep playoff run into the semifinals in 2016 return this season. The Eagles enter this contest winners of their last five straight and 16 of their last 19 games dating back to last season.
