JSU Collecting School Supplies for Those Affected by Recent Hurricanes

Wednesday, November 8, 2017

The hurricanes may have hit more than a month ago, but there are people still suffering. One university is doing all it can to help those affected. In the weeks following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, millions of people had to move.

JSU students, faculty and staff have not forgotten the youngest victims of the historic hurricane season. They have been coordinating a massive school supply drive to benefit children who lost everything in the storms.

Through November 17th, JSU is collecting school supplies for one school district in Texas and one in Florida. Program Evaluation Director and Emergency Management Adjunct Professor, Dr. Gretchen Richards says some children have to travel up to an hour to get to school.

Donations are being collected at the JSU Stadium during each home football game and at the University’s Veteran’s Day Ceremony on November 13th.
