It does not appear that the controversy of sexual misconduct centering on U.S. Senate Candidate Roy Moore of Etowah County is going away anytime soon. This afternoon, Republicans held a special called meeting to address the issue. No word yet on exactly what happened in that meeting.
Meanwhile, Moore continues to deny the claims that five different women say happened decades ago when they were teens and Moore was working as a Deputy District Attorney.Today, Moore’s attorney held a press conference saying the yearbook one of the women claims Moore signed needs to be looked at by a professional.
It looks like the controversy is starting to impact how voters feel about Moore. According to polling recently conducted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Democrat Doug Jones currently leads Roy Moore by 12 points. Jones led Moore 51% to 39% according to the survey taken Sunday and Monday. The results were published today by Politico. The 12 point deficit is a dramatic shift from many recent polls where Moore led Jones by as many as 16 points. Another poll by Change Research shows Moore with a 4 point lead.
