Burglary and Theft Cases Under Investigation

A man and woman in two separate cases are behind bars in connection to burglary and theft. Investigators say Derek Garmany broke into a home on Tidmore Bend Road in Gadsden. When deputies arrived at the home, he ran out of the house and into the woods.

After a short search he was captured, arrested and is charged with burglary and theft of property. Garmany was taken to the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on a $12,500 bond.

In a different instance investigators say Taylor Sheppard broke into a home on Donald Road in Attalla. She is accused of stealing a Dachshund dog, bowie knife, camouflage jacket and a non-narcotic prescription.

Sheppard is charged with burglary and theft of property. She is being held at the Etowah County Detention Center on a $3,500 bond. All the items, except the prescription were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
