Local 3rd Graders Take a Trip to See 'The Nutcracker'

Saturday, December 2, 2017

A ballet that has become a Christmas tradition is performed for hundreds of third graders. The Knox Concert Series, along with community donations, made it possible for every third grader in Calhoun and Cleburne County to see The Nutcracker performed by The Alabama Ballet.

Classes enjoyed the performance on Thursday and Friday. Knox Concert Series Chairman Phil Webb says it wouldn’t be possible without the community.

The Knox Concert Series has been hosting the ballet for 36 years. The Nutcracker is the timeless Christmas story of a young girl’s favorite toy, the Nutcracker, who comes to life and battles the evil Mouse King.

A public showing of the ballet is scheduled for this Sunday at 2pm at the Anniston Performing Arts Center. Reserved seating is available for $30 a ticket. Webb says it is a performance you won’t forget.
