Dairy Queen Gives Free Meals to Service Men and Women

Thursday, December 7, 2017

The holidays are a time to gather with friends and family, but for the men and women who serve and protect, it can be more stressful. One local ice cream shop is giving back with a free meal. The Jacksonville Dairy Queen gave firefighters, police, and other first responders a free $5 lunch today.

The event is a ‘thank you’ for the hard work and dedication these men and women put in to keeping the community safe. Dairy Queen Public Relations Manager Eddie Johns says it’s nice to be able to do something for them.

Johns also says he enjoys getting to know the men and women that put their lives on the line every day. Some responders weren’t able to make it to Dairy Queen, but Johns said they made it happen by taking the food to them.
