Police rush to the scene, responding to calls of an active shooter. The mission: stop the threat and help the victims. Thankfully, this is just a drill. The Etowah County Judicial Center and Courthouse participated in an Active Shooter Drill this morning. The exercise simulated an active shooter inside the buildings.
The drill is a continuation of Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response training and Run, Hide, Fight training taught by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office. Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin says this program prepares everyone in the case of a real shooter.
Gadsden Police Department, State Probation Office, United States Probation Office, Gadsden Fire Department and other agencies participated in the exercise. Sheriff Entrekin says it is important to know what steps to take in order to stay safe. After the recent Las Vegas mass shooting, Sheriff Entrekin says it’s never a bad idea to be prepared.
