A local community college hosts an open house for a new student lounge. Gadsden State Community College welcomed students to enjoy the new Student Success Lounge in the Learning Resource Center on the Valley Street Campus.
The lounge gives students access to a MacBook station with Wi-Fi. An Intel Compute Stick allows students to network and collaborate with classmates. Gadsden State’s Title Three Director Kassie Mathis says the students are the number one priority.
The Student Success Lounge is just one technology improvement project on the Valley Street Campus. The campus also has smartboards in the classrooms, Apple TVs and projection systems, and GoPro cameras utilized by technical instructors. Valley Street Campus Retention Advisor Kim Campbell says it’s important to provide students with updated technology and an active learning environment.
