A 12-year-old Anniston boy dies from a gunshot wound to the head. Thanks for joining us I’m Carl Brady. Anniston Police say Quinterrius Hutchings was home Saturday evening with a friend while his mother went out to get dinner. Investigators say Quinterrius died from an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound, but his mother thinks differently. She says he would never play with a gun.
The accident happened around 7pm at the family’s home on Paul Street. The mother says while she was gone, she and her son sent text messages back and forth. When she got home, she says her son’s friend ran outside to tell her what happened.
When she ran into the home she says she found her son lying on the floor. She says she asked him if he shot himself and he shook his head no. The boy was rushed to the hospital, but died a short time later. A vigil is scheduled to be held on Thursday at 5:30 at Zinn Park.
