A candlelight vigil turns into a protest after the family of the victim suspects foul play. Mourners held a memorial for 12-year-old Quinterrius Hutchings earlier tonight. The 12-year-old died from what police say was an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
While dozens of people gathered to remember the boy’s life, the crowd began accusing the police of hiding the truth behind Hutchings death. The boy was home with a friend Saturday evening while his mother, Margalena Bowers, was out getting dinner.
Bowers says when she got home, Hutchings was laying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head, but was still alive. Bowers asked her son if he had shot himself and he shook his head no. Hutchings was rushed to the hospital, but died a short time after. Bowers says she just wants to know the truth.
