Glencoe High School has a new head football coach. The Yellow Jackets named Brian Alread to the position on Tuesday.
The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon at a special Etowah County Board of Education meeting. The move is a homecoming for Alred who is a Glencoe graduate and former Jacket player. He spent the previous two seasons at Ragland where he led the Devils to the playoffs in both years. He has also served as defensive coordinator at Ragland and St. Clair County.

Alred takes over a proud program that has fallen on hard times as of late. After making seven consecutive playoff appearances (from 2009 to 2015), the Jackets won just five games in the last two seasons. Alred says he’s looking forward to restoring the days of success.
The Jackets will compete in Class 3A Region 6 in the upcoming season.
