Cedar Bluff Firefighters Recognized for Life-saving Efforts

Two firefights are recognized for their outstanding work to save a woman this fall. Cedar Bluff Fire Chief Jason Steward says that Assistant Chief Matthew Sprayberry and Captain Geno Smith were instrumental in saving an elderly woman with dementia from Weiss Lake on September 22, 2017.

The two firefighters were presented with the Lifesaver Award during the regular meeting of the Cedar Bluff Town Council. Stewart said that Smith and Sprayberry put their own safety at risk. As a direct result of their actions they were able to rescue the woman without any serious injuries.
