The foundation that holds the Polar Plunge is using the donations for goody bags for patients. The Venecia Foundation holds several fundraisers each year. Last weekend, the organization held their most popular fundraiser, the Polar Plunge. The Polar Plunge has people strip down to their bathing suits and jump into a freezing cold pool.
All the money raised goes towards creating comfort bags for cancer patients. Venecia Foundation President, and sister to the founder Venecia Butler, Randa Carroll says it is about giving hope to those who feel hopeless.
Each comfort bag contains a large, soft blanket, chapstick, a journal, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, puzzle book, eye drops, tissues, and for patients going through radiation, a $50 gas card. The Venecia Foundation was founded by Venecia Butler who battled breast cancer for many years before losing her fight in 2015.
