Oxford YMCA Moves to a New Building
A local community organization is packing up and moving all while celebrating an annual kickoff. After nearly a decade of fitness programming the Oxford YMCA is moving to a new location.
The Oxford Program Center Y will open on March 1st at the former Seales Golf Store at 250 Spring Branch Road. YMCA President and CEO Shane Ruffin says they have outgrown the current facility and need a building with more room. Ruffin says the YMCA is not just a place to work out, but it is a place of community.
The new facility will continue to offer programs and classes for all ages. in the meantime, the newly renovated Anniston YMCA is celebrating the 2018 Annual Support Campaign.The campaign is designed to raise money that will go towards helping people pay for their memberships.
Member Sharon Jones says joining the YMCA has changed her life. Jones says she did this for herself and for her family. The YMCA is encouraging everyone to visit both the Oxford Program Center Y and the newly renovated Downtown Anniston YMCA.
The YMCA of Calhoun County is hosting an open house at both facilities on Saturday, March 10th from 10am until 2pm. People can come, take a tour and sign up to be a member. Anyone who joins the YMCA on March 10th will pay nothing and receive full facility privileges for the remainder of March.
