State Rep. Craig Ford Introduces the Etowah County Jobs Act

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

State Representative Craig Ford has introduced legislation that he says will create jobs and kickstart local bridge and economic development projects. The Etowah County Jobs Act will reallocate a portion of the one-cent sales tax that paid for a bond that financed construction of the jail, the judicial building and the county courthouse.

The Act allocates 1.5 million dollars of the current sales tax and splits it between the Etowah County Highway Development Committee and the Riverfront Development Committee.

Ford says he believes the act will provide a steady source of revenue to the area’s riverfront development, which will bring more jobs.
