Alabama Files Lawsuit Against OxyContin and Other Opioid Companies

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

Alabama files a lawsuit against the manufacturer of OxyContin and other opioids. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall says the manufacturer created a deceptive marketing campaign that misled patients about the benefits of the drugs and its risk of addiction.

Marshall says it will take years to undo the damage done by opiate addiction, and that the first step is holding the responsible parties liable. At least 13 other states have filed lawsuits against opioid manufacturers.
