City of Anniston Votes on New City Manager

Thursday, February 8, 2018

The votes are in and a new city manager is announced. The Anniston City Council chose candidate Jay Johnson in a four to one vote, with councilman David Reddick voting no.

Reddick says he believes Troy Bell would have been a better city manager. He says Bell looks like the majority of the city and is a better person, implying race was a factor in the decision.

Councilwoman Millie Harris says she voted for Johnson because of his experience. Johnson has 14 years of experience as a city manager of Franklin, Tennessee. While Bell only has 4 months as a city manager for Walla Walla, Washington.
