Three Etowah County people are behind bars and facing felony charges in unrelated incidents. Investigators say Starla Blackmon abused a 4 and 9 year-old. One child suffered a fractured arm while the other had multiple cigarette burns on its hand. A family member reported the case. Blackmon is charged with 2 counts of child abuse. She is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $50,000 surety bond.

Investigators say 28 year-old Andrea Moon tested positive for morphine, oxycodone and oxymorphone while she was pregnant. Moon is charged with chemical endangerment of a child. She is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bond for the chemical endangerment charge.  As a condition of her bond, she must successfully complete a drug treatment program and will be supervised by Etowah Court Referral Office once she is released.

Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin says Richard Nix is charged with domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation. Nix is accused of assaulting an 87 year-old woman by choking, punching and throwing her around her home.

The woman suffers from multiple abrasions, bruises and visible marks on her neck and face. Nix is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $5,000 dollar bond.
