A bike sharing company plans to add bikes to the Ladiga Trail all across Calhoun County. The California-based LimeBike is working with Oxford, Jacksonville, Anniston, and Jacksonville State University to bring bike sharing to the area. The bikes are rented by using an app for a fee, starting at one dollar.
The cities are all working together, and Jacksonville Mayor Johnny Smith says the bikes would be useful for everyone. Smith says the bikes come at no cost to the cities. LimeBike supplies and maintains the bikes.
City of Oxford Risk Manager Marc Webb says that the company plans to place a total of 500 bikes along the Ladiga Trail and in Choccolocco Park. He says the bike sharing program could be ready within the next 2 months.
