One of East Alabama's biggest social events happens this weekend in Gadsden. The Kiwanis Club of Gadsden is all set for their 60th Annual Pancake Day fundraiser. This annual event has always been one of the area's largest one-day fundraising events – and is also one of the largest social events.
Thousands of people attend each year to visit with friends while enjoying a delicious breakfast of pancakes and sausage. Kiwanis Club member Glen Williams says that putting on such a large event requires a lot of time and manpower. While Pancake Day is a huge social event, its main purpose is to raise money for the numerous charities supported by the Gadsden Kiwanis Club.
The 60th Annual Gadsden Kiwanis Pancake Day will be held Saturday at Gadsden's Convention Hall. Pancakes will be served from 6am until 2pm. Tickets are $5 each and available in advance from any Gadsden Kiwanis member – or at the door on Saturday. Take-outs are available if you can't stay and eat.
