Alabama 200 Offers Bicentennial Designation Program

Tuesday, February 20, 2018

An organization encourages students to get out and help their community. Alabama 200 is offering a Bicentennial School’s Designation Program. Schools must come up with a project with the intent to improve the community in some way. All schools throughout the state can apply by going to Alabama 200’s website and filling out a form.

Alabama Bicentennial Commission Educational Program Specialist Erik Haeuser explains what schools can expect from these project applications. Haeuser says 200 schools throughout the state can receive that designation. He also says 21 schools, three from each congressional district, will be chosen as a Bicentennial School of Excellence.

Those schools will be recognized by Governor Ivey and be invited to participate in the final Bicentennial Celebration on December 14th, 2019 in Montgomery.
