Local Winn-Dixie Locations Could Close
A popular grocery store may face bankruptcy for the third time. Bi-Lo, the company that owns supermarket chain Winn Dixie, is reportedly preparing for a potential bankruptcy. The filing could come as soon as next month.
Bloomberg Market says the chain will close almost 200 stores as part of the restructuring. The stores have not yet been announced. The Jacksonville, Florida-based Bi-Lo has more than one billion dollars in debt after its 2005 buyout of Lone Star Funds.
Neither Bi-Lo, nor its parent company Southeastern Grocers have commented on the reports. Bi-Lo purchased Winn Dixie in 2012 and operates locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
