City officials approve a grant that will help improve their downtown area. Jacksonville City Council members say the facade grant program has already spent its initial $15,000 for storefront upgrades.
The goal for the program is to keep the downtown area's historic character while at the same time improving its look. During Monday night’s council meeting members approved an additional $20,000 allocation.
The money will come from the city’s general fund. The program covers commercial properties in the city’s Overlay District.
