Governor Ivey Signs Ride-Share Bill into Law

Governor Kay Ivey alongside state Representative David Faulkner and others sign Alabama’s ride share legislation into law during a bill signing ceremony at the State Capitol. Alabama is the 45th state in the nation to welcome comprehensive ride sharing, allowing companies like Lyft and Uber to operate statewide.

Previously, ride sharing companies were allowed to operate only in select, approved cities. By enacting statewide legislation, suburban and rural communities will now have access to the many benefits the ride share industry provides, including enhanced driver earning opportunities.

The law will officially take effect on July 1st
