Saturday, March 3, 2018

The last day of Read Across America has many students, teachers, staff, and volunteers wearing red and white striped hats. Schools took the final day of Read Across America to celebrate Doctor Seuss’ birthday.

Students at Alexandria Elementary school listened to Miss Jacksonville State University Lauren Reaves read a Dr. Seuss favorite. Reaves says reading is one of the most important tools children can have. Reaves is an Alexandria alumnus and says it is always fun to come back and see where it all began.

The students also listened to Reaves encourage them to reach for their dreams, just as she did when she was a child.
