Special Olympics Held at Jacksonville High School

Students with special needs get a day to celebrate and participate in competitive sports. The 2018 ARC of Calhoun and Cleburne County Special Olympics kicked off in the Jacksonville High School gym with a pep rally earlier today.

Some of the athletes participated in a tug-of-war match with their peers, and then, headed out to their events by passing through a spirit line. More than 160 athletes participated in the annual Special Olympics.

The Special Olympics isn’t just a day of fun and games, many of the athletes train for their sports. Many volunteers say this is the best day out of the entire year.
