An Alabama court overturns the death sentence of a Calhoun County man convicted of killing a school teacher in 2011. The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals reversed the death sentence that Jovon Gaston received after his capital murder conviction in the death of Calhoun County teacher Kevin Thompson.
Another man was also sentenced to death in the slaying, while a third man awaits trial. The court refused to overturn Gaston’s conviction, but say he deserves another sentencing hearing. The case now comes back to Calhoun County.
