AL Senate Approves New Daylight Savings Resolution

Tuesday, March 20, 2018

Alabama may stay in daylight savings time. The Senate approved a resolution by Republican Senator Rusty Glover to put an end to daylight savings. The bill was co-sponsored by 24 of the 35 members.

The resolution says research shows staying in daylight savings could reduce car accidents, heart attacks, and childhood obesity by increasing sunlight after school. Arizona, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico don’t change their clocks. The bill now moves to the Alabama House for a final vote.
