West Point Baptist Church of Jacksonville Ruined by Tornado

The storms also left a trail of destruction outside the JSU campus. Multiple buildings and structures across the city sustained major damage. West Point Baptist Church is nearly completely gone after last night’s tornado. Trees and utility poles litter the ground and made highway 204 impassable until just hours ago.

Jacksonville mayor Johnny Smith says all roads in Jacksonville are now passable, but advises against going to the affected areas. Smith says there were four injuries, but no fatalities. Emergency crews and volunteers continue to work to clear the debris from the area.

The city has implemented a curfew that began at seven o’clock this evening for all areas north of Mountain Street.
