The Alabama Department of Revenue Extends Tax Deadline for Counties Affected by Severe Storms

Thousands of people in many different counties across Alabama have been affected by severe storms and the government is taking note by extending the tax deadline. The Alabama Department of Revenue is giving people in these counties until June 18th.

The two month extension comes after many people in the 27 counties suffered from several severe storms. Revenue Commissioner, Vernon Barnett says, as the people affected by the hardships recover from the challenges caused by the storms, the Department is offering this assistance to help ease some of the burden.

Taxpayers seeking the extension should write “Severe Weather Relief- 2018” in red ink on any state paper return or report being filed. Electronic filers should contact ADOR for guidance. Others outside the areas in the state of emergency declaration who also have weather-related issues are asked to contact ADOR to request a waiver.
